Quiet is not a luxury in the workplace — it is a productivity tool. Yet noise remains the most common complaint in modern offices, draining concentration, raising stress and slowing communication. Colleagues strain to hear, private calls leak across the floor, and video meetings pick up every keyboard click. The problem is rarely the people. It is the space. Here are five acoustic mistakes offices make again and again — and how recycled-PET acoustic panels fix each one.
Glass walls, polished concrete, drywall and hard ceilings reflect sound the way mirrors reflect light. Speech bounces and overlaps until a two-person conversation becomes office-wide noise. The fix is absorption, not more barriers. ROOAOO PET acoustic panels — made from 100% recycled polyester fiber — soak up sound energy instead of bouncing it, with a noise reduction coefficient above 0.8 across the 125Hz to 4,000Hz speech range.
Mistake 2: Confusing soundproofing with sound absorption
Many teams install “soundproofing” foam expecting silence, then wonder why voices still carry. Soundproofing stops sound leaving a room; absorption controls sound inside it. An open-plan office rarely needs the first — it desperately needs the second. High-density PET felt panels on walls cut ambient noise and flutter echo, so conversations become clearer instead of merely quieter.
Mistake 3: Treating the walls, ignoring the ceiling
A meeting room can have fully padded walls and still sound terrible, because the ceiling acts as one giant hard reflector. In open-plan spaces the ceiling is the largest untreated surface in the room. ROOAOO acoustic ceiling tiles and hexagon PET felt baffles attack sound where it first gathers, adding measured reverberation control across 125Hz to 4,000Hz while creating an architectural feature overhead.
Mistake 4: Covering too little area
A single “acoustic feature wall” behind the reception desk is decor, not treatment. Acoustic specialists typically recommend covering 30–40% of a room’s wall or ceiling surfaces before results become obvious. ROOAOO’s range — from 9mm and 12mm PET boards to wood-slat Akupanel and decorative panels — makes full coverage affordable while keeping NRC-above-0.8 performance consistent across every finish.
Mistake 5: Choosing décor over data — or over the planet
The last mistake is skipping certified products and sustainable materials. Panels chosen for looks alone may absorb almost nothing, while cheap foam can fail fire tests and off-gas formaldehyde. ROOAOO panels carry CE, GRS, REACH and formaldehyde emission certifications, meet B1 fire standards, and are manufactured from 100% recycled PET — so fixing office acoustics never has to cost the environment.
The bottom line
Great office acoustics come down to covering the right surfaces with the right material. ROOAOO, the largest acoustic panel manufacturer in Northern China, supplies certified PET panels, Akupanel and acoustic ceilings with full customization — sizes, colors, UV-printed graphics and wood veneers — backed by a U.S. warehouse in Kent for fast delivery. Measure your space, treat walls and ceiling, and let the noise go quiet for good.
